FAQ
What is Pilates?
There's a common misconception that Pilates is only for woman. Did you know that it was actually created by a man...for men! Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates. It is a system of exercises using special apparatus, designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, posture, and enhance mental awareness. Pilates elongates and strengthens, improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility. A body with balanced strength and flexibility is less likely to be injured.
What style of Pilates does Core 10 Pilates teach?
Here at Core 10 Pilates we teach contemporary Pilates on the reformer. Private sessions also include work on the Tower and Wunda Chair. We combine the fundamentals of Pilates and modern-style techniques for a full body workout that burns calories, builds strength and creates results.
How early should I arrive to class?
We ask all new students to please arrive 5-10 minutes early to their first class. After that, just arrive with enough time to start at your scheduled class time.
What Should I bring?
We ask all students to wear grip socks, which are also available for purchase at the studio. You may also want to bring a water bottle. We kindly ask that you leave your cell phone on silent during class.
What is your cancellation policy?
As a courtesy to others, classes must be cancelled 12 hours in advance. This can be done in the Vargaro app. By doing this, you allow others your spot in the class.
If you cancel with less than 12 hours until class time or no show, you will lose the class. You will also be charged $10 late cancellation/no show fee to your card on file. Please text 847-217-4514 if canceling less than 12 hours before your class.
What if I'm late to class?
While we prefer you be on time for class, we understand things can happen which may make you a little late and we don't want you to miss out on your workout. If you arrive to a class that has already started, quietly make your way to an available reformer and first do your footwork to warm up before joining the rest of the class. This is done to avoid injury caused by not warming up prior to harder exercises. *If this is your first class it is very important that you arrive on time.
How do I schedule a class?
Scheduling classes can be done on the Vagaro app. You can purchase an individual class, a package of classes or a monthly or quarterly membership in order to book. If it is your first time, take advantage of the free class! You will find the free class listed with the packages and memberships.
What does it mean if I join the waitlist?
If a class is full you can choose to join the waitlist. If someone cancels and a spot opens up, you will be notified of the opening and/or text, whichever option you have selected in your account. You can then choose whether or not you would like to join the class. Whenever you are on a waitlist, please check your email and/or texts regularly and prior to going to bed so you know if you made it into the class.
How do I freeze my membership?
Are you loving your monthly membership but you'll be out of town or just really busy for a few weeks and not able to come to class? Email us a core10pilates@yahoo.com and we'll put your membership on freeze so you won't get charged again until you're ready to come back. Once you're back, email us again and we will un-freeze your membership so you can resume classes.
How do I cancel my membership?
Unlike many gyms, we make it easy to cancel because we believe in the saying, if you love someone, let them go...that way you can easily and happily return to us when you're ready! We only ask that you give us 10 days notice prior to your next charge date so we can cancel your membership in the system. That said, if you're cancelling because you are unhappy, we'd love for you to call, text, or email us so we can try to make it right! Here at Core 10 Pilates we believe in community and good customer service!
I'm pregnant, can I still come to class?
If you're in your first or second trimester and you have clearance from your doctor to do Pilates, you can still attend the beginner or intermediate classes. Make sure your instructor is aware so they can help you modify any exercises needed. If you're new to Pilates, we recommend you take privates instead of group classes so they can be more modified to your needs.
